Experience site-specific art environments at ideaXfactory. Move inside the building to activate bright-colored neon sculptures by artist Russ RuBert. Climb into “Knitting Space” woven from plastic into gigantic webs by art and architecture group Art of Space. Try your hand at Yarn Bombing (non-permanent outdoor yarn graffiti) and add to an outdoor public art installation. All ages welcome, young children should be accompanied by an adult.
First Night Springfield on December 31 is a family-friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration that takes place in multiple venues in Downtown Springfield. The ideaXfactory at 351 N. Boonville will be open and partnering with SquidFoo Art Gallery, 407 N. Boonville for the hands-0n and yarn bombing on the Boonville Street.
Tickets will be available Dec. 17, 2012 at the following locations: Creamery Arts Center, Urban Districts Alliance, The Library Center, Library Station, Park Central Library, Brentwood Library, Kum & Go Convenience Stores, and Price Cutter.
Tickets are $8 each or $30 for a family 4-pack in advance. Tickets purchased at the event are $10 each or $35 for a family 4-pack. Children 3 & under are free.
Tickets are good for all performances and events during First Night with 20 performances at 10 different venues in Downtown Springfield. Other venues include the Discovery Center, Downtown YMCA, 1984 retro game arcade, and performances include Blackberry Winter Band, Skinny Improv, Mark Bilyeu & Cindy Woolf, and a fireworks finale with America’s Got Talent contestant, Jake Wesley Rogers.
