Contemporary Art Street Jam coming soon on July 5-6

The weekend of July 5-6 the ideaXfactory, in collaboration with SquidFoo, RuBert Studios, MSU Ceramics Department, and the Springfield Art Museu, will present the Contemporary Art Street Jam! We are closing Mill Street and having events in ideaXfactory and SquidFoo and in the street and in the alley behind SF and in our grassy lot. On Friday events and activities start at 5 p.m., on Saturday we start at noon, and both days events go until 12 a.m.

This event will feature:

*Live art by your favorite local painters including Gary Bedell, Tyler Estes, Nick Tarr, Scott Sauer, Houston Hands, Mr. K, Meganne Rosen O’Neal, Cameron Thomas, John Worcester and many more!

*Live musical performances by talented locals including Plaid Dragon, Ghostdance, Chris Gnarly, Tony Menown, The Big McCoy Jazz Trio featuring horns, Falls off Tables, the Smoky Folks and more!

*Live raku firing hosted by Keith Ekstam and David Cogorno of MSU and Drury University’s ceramics departments!

*Live, hands-on robot sculpture making with Cathy Russell and Stacie Baldwin!

*Live bubble painting with Julie Taylor Jones!

*Live zine making with the Paper Airplane Mobile Zine Library!

*A yarnbombing installation by the yarnXbombers!

*PechaKucha X on Saturday starting at 8:30 p.m.

*A discussion of contemporary art with Nick Nelson of the Springfield Art Museum on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
