Outside of Action: an installation by Jessica Frelund on September 5th

Outside of Action: Back & Forth Between Simplicity of Structure and Anxiety of Performance is an installation by Jessica Frelund that incorporates performance, sculpture, video, photography and drawing. The opening will be during the First Friday Art Walk on September 5th, 6-10 p.m. and Frelund will give an artist talk on the following Saturday, September 6th.

By setting up scenarios for self-development and learning, the artist questions human behavior, culture and socially-imposed limitations. The audience may witness absurd activities that inspire self-reflection and exploration. Visitors will also be invited to sit inside a quiet section of the gallery installation called Fire in the Middle, a yellow pyramidal tent-like structure with a green glow that evokes the imagery of growth or regeneration and is inspired by a visualization technique used to strengthen personal will-power.
